Katy Perry, journalist Lauren Sanchez and news anchor Gayle King launched in the room aboard Blue Origin’s new Shepard capsule for an 11-minute flight hailed as historic Monday.
However, the mission soon faced sharp criticism, not only from environmental activists and celebrities, but also from unexpected corners such as fast food giant Wendy’s.
Shortly after the return of the capsule, Wendy’s a snarky comment on X (formerly Twitter) posted during a photo of Perry in her space suit and wrote, “can we send her back.”
Furthermore, Kesha seemed to approve the mood and share a photo of himself smiling as he sipped a Wendy’s shaking, a Move fans quickly interpreted as subtle shade against Perry.
According to Daily MailKesha’s post was intentional. The insider claimed that Kesha felt Perry’s recording in the mission contrary to the theme of female empowerment, considering Perry’s recent collaboration with music producer Dr. Luke, whom Kesha accused of sexual assault in 2014.
Although Dr. Luke denied the claims, and a decade long legal battle ended in 2023 with a solution, tension between the two singers has been high.

Furthermore, Perry’s participation and her dramatic return, which included kissing the earth and declaring her emotional connection to “love and affliction,” only burned further online scorn.
