Moscow: Russia has said that negotiations aimed at ending the war in Ukraine have made some progress, but described his contacts with the United States as difficult and complex.

“Contacts are quite complicated because the subject is obviously not easy,” the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

“Russia is obliged to resolve this conflict, secure its own interests and are open to dialogue. We continue to do this.”

US President Donald Trump said Friday he would quickly achieve a peace deal but couldn’t be involved in the search for a solution indefinitely “if one of the two parties makes it very difficult”.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who spoke earlier in Paris after meeting European and Ukrainian leaders, said the pages had just days to show progress, or Washington would give up his efforts.

When asked if the United States could withdraw from the search for a peace settlement in Ukraine, Peskov said it was a question for Washington.

“We think some progress can already be noted,” Peskov said, referring to a temporary moratorium for strikes against energy infrastructure, though he said Ukraine had not complied with it.

“Therefore, certain developments have already been achieved, but of course there are still many complex discussions ahead.”

Peskov, when it was asked if the energy moratory was over, said it had already been a month, but that no orders had been received from the president to change Russia’s attitude.

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of Russia’s Security Council and a representative of Russian Hawks, expressed approval of the US comments on the X Social Media platform.

“American officials have said that if there is no progress with the Ukrainian case, the United States will wash their hands on it. The accompanying,” Medvedev wrote in English.

“And the EU should do the same. Then Russia will figure it out faster.”
