Gather Round because we have some technical stories to tell: Techradar stories from the past seven days cover new movie trailers, new instant cameras, new open earplugs, problems for Spotify and Samsung and more progress in artificial intelligence.
We are still waiting for the pace of tech news across gadgets, AI and software to slow down, but it certainly hasn’t happened this week. In fact, it feels like there is more news to cover than ever, and we aim to cover as many of the most important messages as we can.
This extensive in case you missed that round-up will bring you straight up at speed with everything that has happened in Tech News over the past week, giving you just enough time to take a moment before we go again in another seven-day news and rumors.
8. 28 years later, scared us in a new trailer
With the original director-author combination of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland from the first film that made a return for this third installment, our hope was already high for 28 years later – And expectation levels went straight up an extra notch after another trailer fall.
The 191-second clip manages to give us just enough of a look at the movie to get our appetite without giving away too much. It certainly seems that there will be enough jumping scares and zombie gore to make the upcoming movie a treat for horror fans.
7. We got our first glimpse of the impending OnePlus 13t
The next OnePlus telephone launch is almost upon us where OnePlus 13T officially arrives on April 24. However, we can take a good, long look at the handset before then, because OnePlus has released a short video showing the phone in three different colors.
We can see a flat back, curved corners and a new button that replaces the Standard OnePlus Alert slider on this handset. We have also had a confirmation that the phone will also sports a 6.32-inch screen, and a spacious 6,000 mAh battery.
6. Samsung’s One Ui 7 Rollout hit some serious snags
Getting a UI 7 out to the masses has proven to be quite the challenge for Samsung, and just when we thought the owners of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 phones would get the update, the rollout was paused in the middle of reports of a serious error.
This is likely to mean that owners of older phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S23, will have to wait even longer to get their UI 7 upgrade. With Android 16 (and therefore a UI 8) just around the corner, it’s not a good look if you’re Samsung.
5. The music died in Spotify’s greatest interruption for years
We found ourselves crawling for our CD tires and radio -operation Wednesday – or maybe just YouTube – as Spotify suffered one of the most serious power breaks in history. Reports of non -reacting apps came flooded from all over the world most of the day.
We still don’t know exactly what happened to trigger such a big problem on Spotify’s servers. Maybe the flow of music is too bothered to tell us, but the company specifically said it was not a cyberattack that causes the extensive problems.
4. Sennheiser gave us some Airpods-like open earplugs
Say hello to the Sennheiser Accentum Open, an airpodsque pair of open earplugs that don’t cost much at all: In Europe they are listed for € 89.90, which should serve as around £ 100 / £ 78 / AU $ 161, when these attractive looking earplugs are sold elsewhere.
In addition to being affordable, they look easy and promise 28 hours of battery life between charges (if you include the case). We haven’t had a chance to test them yet, but we hope they live up to the usual standards of high allegiance standards for Sennheiser’s audio equipment.
3. Polaroid flip took us back to the 90s
Polaroid Flip is the latest analog immediate camera on the market, and it may be just the best too – look at some of the snaps we have managed to catch with the device and make your own mind about this $ 199.99 / £ 199.99 camera (Australia pricing is TBC).
It’s quick and fun to use, and it’s a setback for when photos are not stuck in your smartphone forever: These photos actually make you feel something. Our full polaroid flip review gives you the complete overview of this camera and what it has to offer.
2. Two of the world’s best fitness -Apps merged
Strava, meeting Runna. These are both great apps for tracking runs and other activities, and now they have joined forces: Strava has announced that it has been bought Runna, although nothing will change in terms of how the two apps are currently working.
The goal is to “create even greater value for our users”, according to Strava CEO Michael Martin, and we can expect to see some of the AI-driven personalized training plans that Runna specializes in making their way to users at Strava over time.
1. Chatgpt got some serious upgrades (again)
Openai has been consistent in regularly pushing up upgrades to chatgpt users, and the latest update brings new O3 and O4-MINI models across all user plans. These models are smarter, faster and better at working with different modes (including text and images).
In fact, these models are a nod against the possible arrival of the large GPT-5 upgrade, which is a place in pipeline, and will be able to do much more on your own. In the meantime, pictures in Chatgpt have also got their own dedicated library section.
