MLB News: Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani announces the birth of the first child

Shohei Ohtani is officially a father.

The Los Angeles Dodgers‘Two-way superstar announced the birth of his first child, a daughter, in a social media post on Saturday. Ohtani welcomed his daughter with wife Mamiko Tanaka.

“I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy beautiful daughter,” Ohtani wrote in the caption. “To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous, yet super anxious parents.”

Ohtani also expressed gratitude to Dodgers and the medical staff who helped deliver the baby.

Ohtani, 30, posted on his Instagram account At the end of December, he and his 28-year-old wife, a former professional basketball player from his native Japan, expected a baby in 2025.

“Can’t wait for the little rookie to join our family soon!” On December 28, mail said. It included a photo showing the couple’s beloved dog, lure and a pink ruffled Onesie along with Babyko and a sonogram covered in a baby -emoji.

Dodgers placed Ohtani on MLB’s paternity list ahead of their series opener on Friday night against Texas Rangers. Manager Dave Roberts said before Saturday’s match he was hopeful Ohtani would join the club for the series final on Sunday.

Ohtani can miss up to three games while on paternity leave. Dodgers have a off day Monday and then play the kids in Chicago on Tuesday.
