The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to include the treatment of three larger transplant procedures, liver and bone marrow-under its SEHAT card plus program.
In addition, the cost of cochlaim implants will also be fully covered by the government.
The decision was made during a high -level meeting as chairman of Chief Minister of KP. Provincial information adviser Barristmister Muhammad Ali Saif said the government would now supply transplant and implant services for free, which marks a greater expansion of the health insurance scheme.
“This is another revolutionary step in accordance with the basic chairman’s vision,” said Barrister Saif, who referred to PTI’s health reform.
He added that services during this program would be available to eligible citizens without any financial burden.
The provincial health department has been asked to implement these changes immediately. The government will also soon be planning to include rehabilitation services for drug abuse persons under the SEHAT card.
In a parallel development, the KP government approved rules that allow the use of cannabis plants for medical, research and industrial purposes.
Previously, the KP government launched the free outpatient department (Up) under the SEHAT card Plus scheme. The initiative was officially inaugurated by chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur during a ceremony held in Chief Minister House.
The ORD scheme began as a pilot project in the Marran district, where it was originally rolled out in favor of 50,000 deserved households.
The project was expected to expand in the second phase to Chitral, Malakand and Kohat districts, which eventually reached about 120,000 deserving households in these areas, based on data from Benazir Income Support Program (Bisp).
