Lahore:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday confirmed the government’s obligation to eradicate polio from the country and announced the launch of a new seven-day national campaign aimed at vaccinating millions of children under five.
When he spoke at the initial ceremony here, the prime minister said the government, together with the health authorities, made relentless efforts to eliminate the virus once and for all. In the apartment he managed polio drops for children to formally start the campaign.
“Today, the beginning of another nationwide polio campaign marks. With Allah’s grace, we vaccinate children not only here, but across the country including GB and Azad Kashmir,” the prime minister told the ceremony. The campaign is running until April 27.
Shehbaz praised the efforts of Health Minister Mustafa Kamal, Secretary Dr. Malik Mukhtar Ahmed Bharat, the coordinator of the campaign, and front -line health workers for their dedication. “I encourage all parents to fully cooperate with field teams to ensure that every child is vaccinated,” he said.
When he recognized the challenges in some security -sensitive areas, he said robust measures had been taken to ensure the security of teams and even implementation of the drive. “We have to mobilize communities in every quarter and street to support this national case,” he emphasized.
The prime minister expanded inner thanks to international partners such as WHO, philanthropist Bill Gates and other stakeholders for their continued support. “With your collaboration … we will achieve permanent relief from this disease,” he said. (With input from app)
