Dick van Dyke looks back on the criticism he received about marrying any half of his age.
Thirteen years later, Mary Poppins Actor, now 99, insists that the couple is still happy with the decision.
“We’re getting together so well,” Van Dyke told People Magazine this Sunday at the couple Vandy Camp Fundraiser in Malibu, Calif.
“Everyone said it wouldn’t work,” he remembered, as Silver, now 53, doubled on his statement.
“We are just interested in each other so much,” explains that it is “creepy how good [the marriage] Works. “
Silver then joked that “People of the same age don’t hold.”
Dick van dyke show Star also remembered to meet his now wife for the first time at the case prices in 2006.
“I never said hello to a strange girl in my life,” he admitted. “I was too scared. But I was on a show backstage and she passed by, and for some reason I just jumped up and said, ‘Hi, I’m dick.’ There’s something about her [that] Got me and I was right. “
After their first meeting, Van Dyke Silver hired as a makeup artist for subsequent projects, but they did not start going out until years later.
The couple also agreed that they strengthen each other, with the silver sharing that Van Dyke “made me feel like I can do something.”
The couple married in 2012 when the comedian was 86 years old and his bride was 40.
Van Dyke was previously married to Margie Willett from 1948 to 1984, welcoming four children, including Christian, 74, Barry, 73, Stacy, 69, and Carrie Beth, 63.
He also had a long -term relationship with Michelle Triola Marvin, whom he lived from 1976 until her death in 2009.
