Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif traveled to Turkiye on Tuesday for a two-day official visit to invitation from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister’s office, the Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister of Information and TV -Casting Attaullah Tarar and special assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold extensive discussions with President Erdogan on bilateral ties and regional developments. The engagement aims to further strengthen the long -standing strategic partnership between the two nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s ongoing visit to Turkiye comes in the wake of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Islamabad in February, where both leaders were chairman of the 7th session of the Strategic Cooperation Council at a high level (HLSCC).
During the Session in February, Pakistan and Turkiye signed the 24 Memoranda of Understanding (Mous), confirming their common obligation to strengthen bilateral ties across multiple sectors. A major highlight of the meeting was the agreement to increase bilateral trade to $ 5 billion.
Key areas for cooperation described in the agreements included an extension of trade in the Agreement of Agreement (TGA), improved cooperation in the defense sector and the effort to attract Turkish investments in Pakistan.
The two sides also agreed to operate Islamabad-Tehran -istanbul-Handelhandoren and elaborate on cooperation in areas such as energy, finance and digital trade.
