Peshawar:
The Young Doctors Association (Yda) Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chapter has warned about boycott throughout the province if the provincial government does not improve the working conditions of medical candidates and increase their wages.
Yda KP President Dr. Hafeez Orakzai, who approached a press, highlighted several problems, including the lack of basic facilities in larger hospitals, the defective health card system and the increased professional tax on doctors from 30 to 80 percent.
He also pointed out that the Public Service Commission has not been recruiting doctors for the past six years, and merit -based doctors are ignored in favor of those with political relations.
Dr. HAFIZ demanded that house jobs should be increased, doctors’ wages are raised and timely campaigns are secured.
He also requested that professional people be included in the Board of Directors and that internal hostels were established in medical colleges to give accommodation to doctors. In addition, he demanded that the house’s officers be paid and provided with a specialization lot.
The Yda President paid tribute to the dedication of doctors during the Covid-19 pandemic, earthquakes and floods, but complained that they are not recognized or rewarded.
He requested that doctors lost their lives during the pandemic to get the Shaheed package and the Covid-19 funds were used for their intended purposes.
Dr. Hafiz warned that if their claims are not met, Yda will be forced to close all hospitals in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and continue their protest until the Minister of Health resigns.
He urged the government to release funds for doctors and meet their demands to avoid a confrontation.
