- Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller’s Tech -Specifications have been revealed
- According to Nintendo, its charging time is significantly reduced
- The new gamepad is also ever so little slimmer and lighter
There is some good news if you want to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller to join the new console in June.
Nintendo’s official technical specifications for the Switch 2 Pro controller were viewed by Nintendo Life and has been revealed on its website.
While there are some small differences in size and weight compared to the original version, the big change here is in battery charging time. On the revised Pro controller, it is now only 3.5 hours, down from the 6 hours of the first model.
Even better, Nintendo Switch 2’s Pro Controller looks the same mammoth battery life (about 40 hours) as the original. Factor in the markedly shortened charging time and you have a controller that needs to be ready to go to wireless use more often.
Here is an overview of the key specifications between Switch 2 Pro Controller and its predecessor:

Nintendo warns that in order to achieve this charging time of 3 and a half hours, you will use a suitable charging method. These include the Nintendo Switch 2’s AC adapter or the included USB-C charging cable. Any third -party variants could have a negative impact on the total charging time.
We can also see that the Switch 2 Pro controller has ever been so little refined in terms of size and weight that comes a little leaner and lighter than the first model. However, it is a small difference and one that does not really manifest unless you have each side by side.
For more information, see my Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller Hand-on Preview, where I found that the new GamePad was an improvement in the overall feeling. It simply felt much more comfortable to hold and its thumb sticks were sublime responsive when I tested it with games like Mario Kart World and Street Fighter 6 At a recent Nintendo event in Paris.
