Andor Actor Genevieve O’Reilly has shared why it was “one of my favorite days to film the third episode of Star Wars Show’s second season. [the] set”.
Talking with Techradar before Andor Season 2 made her Disney+ Bow, O’Reilly, who plays Mon Mothma in the highly ranked show, Beamed, when she talked about shooting the wild wedding dan number of the series, whose significance was not lost on O’Reilly of two main reasons.
The Party-style event, which closes a three-day wedding extravaganza, taking place across this season’s first three episodes, see Mon Mothma completely loosened after he was caught in a high-pressure situation on her home world of Chandrila.
In fact, not only has her daughter tied the knot with the son of the shadowy businessman Davo Sculdun – via an arranged marriage to maintain peace, no less – but may have also had to deal with several other questions.
It includes Luthen Rael’s unexpected participation, revelations about her sifoning of funds to, yes, the beginning Rebel Alliance and off-screen death of her long-lasting friend Tay, whipped away from the wedding of Cinta Kaz, funds, one of Luthen’s most devoted acolytes, in section 3’s last moment to discard.

Saying Monthma is implemented the emotional and psychological twist in Season 2’s opening chapter, is an understatement. When the weight of the problems becomes too great to deal with, it is perhaps surprising that she gives in to her inhibitions, downs more shots and throwing herself into the middle of the wedding dance floor.
Release as it was to free a “character that is [usually] So stiff, ”says O’Reilly that reason wasn’t the only one who made Section 3’s Dance number feel like“ a huge party ”individually as well as collectively with the crew and role crew of Andor Season 2.
In fact, with the multi-day shoot, which took place after the months of 2023 Hollywood strikes finally ended, there was an unmistakable party atmosphere on the set for many of those involved in the development of the TV series.
When I asked O’Reilly if the dance sequence was choreographed, or if everyone had the autonomy to do their own things, she replied, “Well, first and foremost we went on a hike together in Montserrat, who was physically in its own way! After that we are all in this wedding, which is very complicated wedding for not only [Sartha, played by Faye Marsay] also.
Wow Andor Season 2 really doesn’t play. Some really dark things in section 3 and already the first accident of what I’m sure of are many in this last season 😭 And Mon Mothma trying to escape her reality with some shots, and dance is so real #AndorSeason2 #Andors2 pic.twitter.com/mekzyttnhkApril 23, 2025
“It was extraordinary for Tony [Gilroy, Andor‘s showrunner] Going into it, because then you really understand how brave these women actually are, “O’REILLY continued.
“But to set the first three episodes of this family culture, with all the complications of Mon with his daughter and the brutality of it [decision to wed her off to Davo’s son]And then after Luther – who is so wild and artificial – and an imperial presence there, you feel the exterior pressure on man, the inner family turmoil and the dangers associated with being part of the rebellion and having the empire on top of them.
It felt like this huge party
Genevieve O’Reilly, Andor season 2 actor
“It arises everything and eventually Monmelt sees something that results in her having blood on her hands with what happens to Tay. So the opportunity to get her drink and go into full release by throwing herself into the dance that is the only way to deal with chaos in her head was as brilliant as an actor, especially for this character that is so rich.
“It was one of my favorite days ever on any set and because it was filmed after the strikes, it felt like this huge party, not only for anyone who worked on the show but for everything we have tried to achieve with Andor“
