Celebrities express grief and solidarity after gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahaldam, a scenic city in Indian illegally occupied Kashmir (IIOJK), who killed at least 26 civilians in the tourist spott.

The attack was the deadliest in a quarter of a century and marked a dramatic shift with the targeting of civilians instead of Indian security forces.

As usual, India accused Pakistan of the attack and announced that Suspend Indus Water Treaty, which shares critical water between the two nuclear armed neighbors, although it has no important means to limit the flow of the river downstream to Pakistan.

Pakistan closed his airspace for Indian Airlines and rejected New Delhi’s suspension of a critical water sharing treaty on Thursday in return for India’s response to the militant attack on tourists in Indian Kashmir.

Pahaldam, known for its natural beauty, draws thousands of visitors every summer. Violence was relieved in the area in recent years, which made the attack even more shocking.

Hania Aamir, who starred with Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh in an upcoming film, condemned the attack and expressed her deep grief over the loss of innocent life in an Instagram post.

She said, “Tragedy everywhere is a tragedy for all of us. My heart is with the innocent lives affected by the recent events. In pain, in sorrow and hope – we are one.”

The actor continued to say that when innocent life was lost, the pain was shared by everyone. “No matter where we come from, grief speaks the same language. May we always choose humanity.”

Fawad Khan lamented the attack on the strongest words and said his thoughts and prayers were with the victims.

The attack comes as a blow to his widely awaited Bollywood comeback, as some Indian film organs are now against the release of Abir Gulaal, his upcoming film with Vaani Kapoor.

In a social media post, he said, “Deeply sorry to hear the news of the abominable attack in Pahaldam. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this horrible incident, and we ask for strength and healing for their families in this difficult time.”

“The deeds of this brutal, meaningless violence must be held responsible. Justice must prevail. Let’s come together – like a humanity – and say enough. We will not let hatred divide us. We will not be silent.”

So many innocent lives were caught in a storm they never asked for. Targeted right in front of their loved ones. “

“Not a tragedy we can move by,” adds that this abominable attack should shake the conscience of mankind. “This will haunt us for a long time,” Chopra said.
