Sindh announces the holiday on May 1

Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday throughout the province on May 1 (Wednesday) in connection with the International Labor Day.

According to a message issued by services, general administration and coordination department, all government and semi-government offices would remain closed on the day.

Meanwhile, educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities, would also remain closed in the holidays.

The world celebrates Labor Day – also known as May Day – every year on May 1st to express solidarity with the workers and honor the rights of the working class.

The purpose of celebrating this day is to initiate steps to provide job protection to workers and industrial workers against any exploitation.
