A member of the Washington Nationals Grounds crew was not as fast as he had to be during Saturday’s rainfall in Nationals Park.
Rain began to fall in the first place of a scoreless game between Nationals and New York Mets.
The game started later than planned due to bad weather, but conditions forced the game to stop shortly after it got started.

The game also marked former Washington star Juan Soto’s first series at Nationals Park as a member of Mets.

Soto spent the first 4½ seasons of his MLB career at Nationals. He was traded for San Diego Padres in August 2022. Soto hit a career high 41 home runs during his lonely season with New York Yankees in 2024.
He changed the New York City towns during the peak season and traded with Pinstripes for Mets Blue and Orange. When Soto agreed to join Mets, he signed the most lucrative contract in North American sports history. It was reported that the 15-year-old deal was a record-breaking $ 765 million.
Nationals participated in Saturday’s competition in fourth place in NL East, while Mets was initially sitting in the division.
