Islamabad among 100 safest cities

Islamabad has surpassed major global cities, including London, New York, Oslo, Sydney, Moscow, Toronto and Barcelona, ​​in terms of security, according to the latest Numbeo report.

The World Safety Index of Numbeo Ranks Islamabad 93. Among 380 cities around the world with a security index score of 67.9.

In comparison, London with a score of 45.8 is ranked as 270., Paris with 41.9 is ranked 303., Berlin with 55.3 is placed on 187. Moscow with 64.6 sits on 118., while Lahore, with an index of 63.1, stands at 130.

Previously, the United Nations had also declared Islamabad a “family station” for his staff.

A spokesperson for the Islamabad police credited the capital’s high security ranking to the management of the Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, during whose term of office, the strength recorded notable successes and a significant decrease in crime in the course of 2024 and 2025.

He said the fall in 2025 was due to effective police strategies and the dedicated performance for all officers and staff. Compared to the previous year, the crime rate experienced a significant 20% fall.

Overall, 600 fewer crimes were reported in 2025 compared to 2024.

As part of IGP’s initiatives, a special consciousness campaign entitled ‘Nasha Ab Nahin’ was launched to highlight the dangers of drug abuse.
