- Samsung has suggested that a new type of Samsung foldable is coming
- This probably means that the company’s long rumor tri-fold phone is launched this year
- Based on past rumors it may not be widely available
We have heard for a while that Samsung could launch a Tri-Fold phone, possibly called Samsung Galaxy G Fold, and now the company has strongly hinted that this device will be launched by 2025.
As reported by Sammobile, the company said during its Q1 2025 earnings that it will “maximize the product competitiveness based on form factorinnovation.” Given that Samsung has not released a phone with a new form factor since 2020, it suggests that a new form factor is coming soon, with the Tri-Fold design is the only rumor candidate.
The company also stated that “Foldable will offer big screen experiences for fold”, which could be a reference to the rumored 9.9-inch screen on the Samsung Galaxy G Fold; It would make it much bigger than the 7.6-inch Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
Of course, we can’t be sure of any of this, but it has already been rumored that the Samsung Galaxy G Fold will be launching this year, so these comments further confirm this prediction.
It could come soon but maybe not everywhere
If G Fold lands this year, it is likely to be launched with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, both of which are expected in July.
However, it is also possible that the Samsung Galaxy G Fold will not get a global launch, with a report suggesting it will only be available in China and Korea. In which case you might not be able to buy it.
There is still always hope that it will be global and although this initial version does not, subsequently models may well do.
We definitely hope that the Galaxy G-Folden will be widely available, but despite being one of the early pioneers with folding phones, Samsung has not done much to innovate in the room for a while now, so a tri-fold device could really refresh its collapsing line.
