The Pakistani army performed full -scale military exercises on Thursday and showcased its combat readiness and modern weapons, in the midst of rising regional tensions with India.

According to security sources, the exercises involved live-fire demonstrations and were designed to deliver a robust response to any aggression from the opponent.

Officers and troops from different devices participated in the exercises, high -level operational skills show and used advanced battlefield systems.

The exercises followed Pakistan’s retaliatory action Wednesday when troops destroyed an Indian checkpost in response to unprovoked small weapons from across the control line (LOC) in Kiani and Mandal sectors.

Security officials said they retaliate the enemy positions, including the Chakputra post in Indian illegally administered Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Tensions between the nuclear armed neighbors have escalated since the April 22 attack in Pahaldam, killing 26 tourists. India accused Pakistan of the incident without providing evidence.

The fall has triggered a number of retaliatory diplomatic and strategic steps. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, canceled Visa for Pakistanis and closed the Wagah-Attari border transition.

Pakistan responded by exhibiting Indian diplomats, threatening to suspend the Simla Agreement and suspended Visa for Indian citizens – exclusionary SIKH pilgrims – and closing the main transition on its part.

Islamabad has denied involvement in the Pahagam attack and offered to cooperate in a transparent study.

Military sources reiterated that the Pakistani army remains fully prepared to counter any kind of aggression and will respond firmly if provided.
