- NoteBooklm Mobile App lists are now live
- The research app is coming very soon to Android and iOS
- Expect to hear more news on Google I/O 2025 on May 20
After suggesting the impending arrival of a NoteBooklm app last month, Google has now posted the AI Research app Live in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for mobile devices. You can’t download it yet, but you can pre-order it-and it gives us a good early glimpse of what the promising app looks like.
‘Pre-order’ of the app means it is automatically downloaded to your phone when it is fully launched, which according to the Apple App Store listing (via 9to5Google) is May 20-SAME DAY AS Google I/O 2025 starts where we undoubtedly hear more about this app.
If you’ve never come across the notebooklm before, it’s an AI-driven resource tool that can gather information across documents, web pages and more-you can get smart summary, ask questions about the data and even produce fake podcasts (which you can interrupt if you want).
It looks like the app will include podcast (or “audio overview”) creator, based on the screens in these lists. We can also see screens to add sources and to the conversation panel where you can chat about the sources with AI.
An alternative to gemini
Google will undoubtedly give us the full story of this app in a few weeks, but almost all web app features appear to have been transferred – including the opportunity to add notebooks and browse the laptops you’ve created online.
NoteBooklm is a useful alternative to Google Gemini at the times when you need AI’s help with a specific set of material you’ve collected – perhaps a science research project or reporting a current industrial industry.
Based on my experience with the tool, it is usually more straight face and serious than Gemini and includes quotes with all its answers-so you can check if it has made mistakes. You will get higher utility limits and more adaptation options in notebooklm if you subscribe to a Google One AI PREMIUM plan.
It seems that there will be a wealth of AI news coming out of Google I/O 2025 from May 20 – including maybe an update on AI mode for search – and we will of course bring you all messages as they are made.
