When it comes to the best over-ear headphones you can buy, our current list has both the WH-1000XM4 and WH-1000XM5 from Sony-and it looks like the Sony WH-1000XM6 pair will be revealed for too long.
According to the Walkman blog (via notebookcheck), the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones are set to be announced in the first or second week of May. However, it may be mid -June before you can actually order them online or find them in stores.
The same source says the price will be around $ 479. As you will see from a reading of our Sony WH-1000XM5 review, the current headphones are being launched for $ 399 / £ 380 / AU $ 649 (though they are now cheaper) -So we look at a pretty significant price increase.
Given that the WH-1000XM5 headphones debuted in May 2022, the follow-up saving has been a long time. The model before what Sony WH-1000XM4 was revealed all the way back in August 2020.
What we think we know so far
There is another bit of information from this leak: The WH-1000XM6 headphones will apparently be folded, unlike the WH-1000XM5 we have now. It is a return to design of previous models, including the WH-1000XM4 and Sony WH-1000XM3.
It’s much more information about a pair of headphones that we haven’t really heard too much about so far, despite their launch being imminent. One leak that has emerged suggests that the color settings will be black, platinet and midnight blue.
Another leak from the start of the year pointed to improved Bluetooth capacities and perhaps a redesigned and stronger hinge. Our expectations are pretty high, given that we’ve been waiting for these headphones for three years now.
Since we have also seen the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones that come their way through regulatory archives, it seems that they will be revealed in the coming weeks-and we will of course tell you as soon as something is official.
