“This is young f — ing morons who did this. They are drunk. Do you really want to ruin someone’s life?” he said. “And let me be honest, I don’t know what’s going on in the world … I’ve been doing bar stool for 20 years, I’ve had more hatred, more anti -Semitism in the last year, and half a year than I’ve ever had,” he said.
“And I don’t speak politics or what’s going on in the Middle East-bare to hate groups of people. You hate my parents, you hate my grandparents-s — Like that, it’s crazy. So yes, my first reaction was that I want to burn these people to earth, their families, all. And it’s like, you know what? Maybe it’s not the best course of action. Maybe I can use this as a teaching moment.”
Portnoy said he will try to transform a “cruel incident” into a learning moment.

“We are sending these children to Auschwitz. They have to take a tour of the concentration camps (in Poland). Hopefully will learn something. Maybe their lives are not ruined and they think twice and more importantly, other people see that it is not words you throw around. For me it is a reasonable result of this event.”
