Karachi is likely to experience strong wind and possible thunderstorms over the next two days, with rain expected in parts of the city today, according to Met Office.
The weather department predicts hot and humid weather for Karachi over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures expected to vary between 35 ° C and 37 ° C.
According to the department, the current humidity level is 43%, with dry northwest winds blowing at a speed of 8 kilometers per hour. The smallest temperature that was recorded over the last 24 hours was 28 ° C.
Meanwhile, Karachi experienced a short respite from ongoing heat wave stands on Monday morning, when strong winds and dust clouds swept through different parts of the city, followed by light rain in some areas. According to Express News, early morning showers were reported in MANGSHOPIR, offering temporary relief of high temperatures.
Eyewitnesses noted that dust storms and gusty winds began around dawn, lowering temperatures and short improved air quality.
Previous weather warnings had predicted strong winds and isolated showers over southern Sindh, including Karachi.
In the interior Sindh, severe dust storms caused significant damage. At least two people were reported dead and several homes were damaged in cities, including Naushahro Feroze, Shahpur Chakar, Sanghar and Hyderabad. High winds and lightning triggered trees, damaged rooftops and affected solar panels. Widespread power cuts were also reported.
In Padidan (Naushahro Feroze), a man identified as Arshad Malik died after a wall collapsed on him. In Kot Bahadur village near Mehrabpur, a woman named Sumbul was killed when the roof of her house collapsed because of the strong winds.
In the Bhai Khan Babbar village, intense won a fire triggered a fire that destroyed a dozen mud houses. Firefighter services arrived late, with villagers who managed to control the fire with minimal external help.
Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) confirmed that 79 lattice footers stumbled during the storm and disturbed electricity over Hyderabad. Water supply interruptions were also reported in several neighborhoods.
