- An error that broke the jump link in the start menu was previously marked with Windows 10’s April Update
- This error actually flowed around in previous updates (going back to February)
- Microsoft has solved the problem related to a change to bring a Microsoft account-related panel to the start menu in Windows 10
Do you remember the odd Windows 10 problem where the April update to us broke part of the start menu for some people? The good news is that Microsoft has solved this error.
If you missed this one, it was a mistake that meant jumping lists – extra options that emerge with a right -click on an icon – no longer worked correctly for some apps in the start menu.
Windows recently caught an update from Microsoft about the problem, both of which confirmed that this error is (or was) present in Windows 10, and also that it is now firm, fortunately.
In a release of the Health Dashboard Update, Microsoft recognized in the well -known edition section the error and admitted that it was more widespread than just the latest cumulative update of April for Windows 10. In fact, this Start Menu Faux Pas has been present since the update of February (optional) update.
Microsoft explains that the problem related to bringing in Microsoft account “control experiences” to the start menu, a limited roll -out that began in March 2025. (So it would also have been present at the end of February update, which was a preview of March full release.)
Whatever happened to introduce this feature made the functionality disappear for some Windows 10 users. When Microsoft was aware of this paused Microsoft rolling out the Microsoft account-related addition to the start menu on April 25. A solution was also piped through.
Microsoft says: “This [jump link] The edition was resolved by a service change that was rolled out on April 25, 2025. If you are still facing this problem, make sure your device is connected to the Internet to receive the automatic resolution rolled out. After the next reboot, this problem must be solved. “
Analysis: Backporting Blues
Windows latest, who experienced this problem on some of its Windows 10 -PCs, has confirmed that the error is now healed on these devices, so it’s good to hear.
While jumping lists — which provides extra context-sensitive capabilities for certain apps in the start menu, which opening recently used files, ‘jump’ just to them-sounds like a beautiful smaller thing, some people use them a lot. And this functionality is really messed up with workflows for these Windows 10 users and seriously annoyed them (as you could see from some of the complaints sent online).
Back when this error was first reported, I guess it could be the result of backporting features from Windows 11 and that turned out to be the case. The Microsoft Account Panel, which is introduced to the Start Menu, is already in Windows 11 and is brought to Windows 10 – or it was anyway, even if that work is now paused.
It can (and probably are) still in -depth, even though I’m not quite sure why Microsoft delivers additions to Windows 10 at this point when the operating system has less than half a year left on the clock before support runs out. It may be a measure of how important the company feels that it is to promote the visibility of Microsoft accounts.
