LeBron James announced on Monday that he will refrain from joining Met Gala despite being the honor chairman of the event that takes place in New York City.
The Los Angeles Lakers star said he has been dealing with an injury he suffered from the team’s first round playoff output against Minnesota Timberwolves.

“Unfortunately because of my knee injury, which I was inflicted at the end of the season, I cannot attend Met Gala in new tonight when so many people have asked and congratulated me with!” James wrote on X.
“Hate to miss a historic event! My beautiful powerful queen will be there and keep the castle down as she has always done!”
James suffered a sprained knee tape in games 5, reported Associated Press. The 40-year-old would have been out for a few weeks if Lakers had avoided elimination.

Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A $ AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour were appointed co -chairmen of the event.
The theme of Met Gala is inspired by the annual jump exhibition, based on Monica L. Miller’s book “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.”
The exhibition itself, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” draws on other sources beyond the book. It is organized in a dozen sections that symbolize a characteristic of Dandy style as defined by Zora Neale Hurston in her 1934 essay, “The Properties of Negro Expressions.”

The Gala has collected a record $ 31 million, the Metropolitan Museum of Art CEO Max Hollein said.
