Punjab Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday declared an emergency throughout the province and ordered the closure of all educational institutions following a series of Indian missile attacks that targeted civilian areas, which led to a rapid military reaction from Pakistan.
“All magazines by doctors and medical staff have been canceled, and civil defense staff have been revoked to duty,” Maryam announced in an emergency, calling on hospitals and rescue services to remain on high alarm.
The announcement came after Pakistan’s military confirmed that Indian forces had launched air strikes in five locations inside Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Muride.
According to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), LT Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the attacks targeted civilian areas and spared military installations.
In a quick counter -offensive, Pakistan’s armed forces launched missile attacks that allegedly destroyed an Indian brigade headquarters and a military post in the Dudhnial sector along the control line (LOC). The Pakistani Air Force also lowered three Indian aircraft, security sources were confined.
As he condemns the Indian aggression, CM Maryam declared, “The people stand shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistani army. India may have started to have started this, but we will end it,” the company’s support for the military’s response.
While confirming Pakistan’s desire for peace, she warned that the country would not accept any compromise on its sovereignty. “We are looking for peace, but with dignity. If war is imposed, the whole nation will unite as a strength,” she added.
In response to the escalating crisis, CM instructed the public to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary journey. She urged citizens to rely only on official sources of information and to report any injuries or emergencies to nearby hospitals or rescue services.
Authorities, including Rescue 1122, District Administrations and Civil Defense Departments, have been placed on high alarm as the province of harnesses for potential further escalation.
