PTA blocks Indian news channels, sites

Islamabad:

On Wednesday, PTA blocked 16 Indian YouTube news channels, 31 YouTube VideoLink and 32 sites to convey false information and anti-Pakistan propaganda.

The action was taken in the light of the prevailing regional situation to protect national security and protect Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.

According to PTA, it turned out that the blocked content spread misleading and harmful tales intended to manipulate public perception and undermine national unity.

The move is part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to combat disinformation and promote the responsible use of digital platforms.

PTA repeated its commitment to maintaining a safe, safe and reliable internet environment for telecommunications in Pakistan.

The authority stated that it will continue to monitor online content and take firm action against any material that poses a threat to the country’s national interests.

It is relevant to note that PTA’s action follows a recent step from the Ministry of India’s Information and broadcasts that performed emergency situations under the Information Technology Act to instruct larger social media platforms to Pakinomist-limit multiple Pakistani accounts.
