Apple is on the verge of releasing iOS 18.5 update and it comes with a lot of useful new features that can improve all the best iPhones when it arrives. And after Apple’s release notes for the update, there is a particularly useful change coming to screen time.
According to Apple, parents will soon be notified when their screen time code has been successfully entered into a child’s device. It should immediately let the parents know that their offspring have found a way past the restrictions on their unit.
Screen time can be used to limit how long a person is spending in a specified app, blocking inappropriate content and limiting device access to predefined times. If a child finds a way around these limitations, they may change or disable them.
Parents will also be able to get similar messages in macOS after installing MacOS 15.5 update. The publishing candidate builds on both iOS 18.5 and MacOS 15.5 was released yesterday, with the full versions expected to be launched next week.
More changes that come to iOS 18.5
Enhanced parental control is not the only changes that come to Apple’s next operating system updates. There are minor adjustments like Apple that bundle a new pride harmony wallpaper to support LHBT rights, but some broader changes are also coming.
The mail app now has options to display or hide contact images in your inbox, while you can also disable the group after sending. In the Settings app, it is now easier to see your AppleCare+ information and find out more about the service. These updates were previously spotted in iOS 18.5 beta in early April.
The changes not only focus on the latest iPhones. Users of the iPhone 13 will also benefit from carrier-delivered satellite services available to all models in the iPhone 13 series. It does not refer to Apple’s own satellite services-as Emergency SOS via satellite-but rather those provided by airlines, such as T-Mobile’s collaboration with Starlink.
With iOS 18.5 on the brink of launch to the public, it will not be long before everyone will be able to try these new features. It should set us nicely to Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, where iOS 19 is expected to be revealed to the world.
