Rafael Devers had a tense spring training.
During the exhibition period, Red Sox Manager Alex Cora and Devers seemed to be in odds on whether he would spend time on the baseball diamond that covered the third base.
Shortly before the opening day, Cora Devers confirmed would handle the team’s designated hit duties full time. But when Boston’s first Baseman Triston Casas suffered a serious injury, it led to another proposal from the Red Sox Messing.
Formerly Red Sox jug and the franchise’s current chief baseball manager, Craig Breslow, brought the idea that Devers covering the first base in the future reported the New York Post. However, the three-time MLB all-star reportedly closed the idea.

Devers then questioned whether Breslow, Baseball Pitcher-Vinded Team Manager, had a certain level of dissatisfaction with him. “I’m not sure what [issue] He has with me, “Devers told journalists.” He played ball and I would like to think he knows that changing positions like it’s not easy. “

Casas, who spent his last four major league seasons at the first base, is expected to miss the rest of the year with a knee injury.
Devers also suggested that the Red Sox front office should use the free agent market in their search for a solution at the first base. “Now I think they should do their job essentially and hit the market and look for another player [to play first base]. I’m not sure why they want me to be in between the way they have me now, ”he said via masslive.com.
Devers ink a contract with Red Sox worth $ 313.5 million in January 2023, ESPN reported. He ended last season with 28 homes. The 28-year-old has hit six home runs in 39 games so far this season.
