Sony reportedly develops the next major PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) update to the PS5 Pro, which will provide great improvements in resolution scaling.
It is, according to YouTuber ‘Moore’s Law, is dead’, known for its exact PS5 Pro and Spec leaks that claim that Sony is currently working on the next iteration of the console’s AI-driven upscaling technology.
Although the PlayStation Lead System Architect Mark Cerny has confirmed that a new PSSR update is coming in 2026, Moores does not know if it will be called a new version but classifies it as “PSSR 2” because of how “essential” it is.
“I don’t know if Sony will feel what I don’t know if they want to say anything,” said the leak, “In fact, to my memory, from what I’ve seen, there have been at least three or more versions of PSSR updated behind the scenes.”
As far as this PSSR 2 update will contain, he claims that Sony is aiming to offer 4K at 120 FPS and 8K at 60 FPS, as well as support for wider solutions, including 1440p and 1080p locked at 120 FPS.
