The British retail giant-co-up is still experiencing serious disturbances from a cyberattack where some stores are unable to rebuild selected products thanks to critical logistical systems kept offline in the middle of fear that the hackers may still have access to the company’s network, The post Reports.
CO -OP has spent the last two weeks averting attackers by closing IT systems -and there have been “significant disturbance” for operations as a result. CO-OP’s CEO confirmed that there was access to a “limited amount of customer data” of criminals and that the organization is working to fully understand the impact of the attack.
“As a previously communicated, we have found that cyber criminals were able to access a limited amount of member data. This is obviously extremely worrying for our colleagues and members, and I am very sorry that this happened. We recognize the importance of data protection and take our obligations to you and our regulators seriously, especially as a member -owned organization,” she confirmed.
Lingering hackers
Deliveries from Co-Op’s large depots were reportedly well under 20% of their normal capacity, outlining the serious disturbances these attacks can bring.
“All our stores are open and trade, and we now deliver deliveries to all our stores floating at an increased level of fresh, cooled and frozen products next to Cabboard Essentials,” a spokesman confirmed to the mail.
“Some of our stores may not have all their usual products available, and we are sorry if this is the case for our members and customers in their local store. We work around the clock to reduce disruptions and are satisfied [to] Have resumed delivery of stock to our shelves, ”they added.
The nature of the attack has not yet been revealed, although it comes along with a similar incident for another retailer, M&S, which suffered a power outage that is probably linked to scattered ransomware.
