It’s almost time to look up again. A new trailer for James Gunn’s Superman Movies are released very soon and I couldn’t be more excited to see more of one of this year’s most expected new films.
As confirmed by Gunn on Social Media (see below), DC Universe (DCU) will debut the film’s official trailer this Wednesday (May 14). The new teaser is expected to be displayed under the Warner Bros’ Upfronts 2025 presentation first before being released online immediately after.
History spoilers despite the fact that there are plenty of new recordings that Gunn could tease in Superman‘s next trailer. DCU chapter 1 -flick reportedly has a runtime of about two and a half hours, so we have to be treated with lots of new shots to pore over and theorize.
Prior to the release here are three things I want to see, plus something that I think should be avoided in Superman‘s official trailer.
1. Talk up
The first trailer to Gunn’s Superman Movies that arrived last December were full of great moments. Apart from a few lines pronounced by David Corenswet, who plays Clark Kent/the titular cryptonian, we did not hear any of the film’s other role crew members speech.
Superman‘s next teaser should correct this. Its initial batch of recordings was also about creating the tone and mood that Gunn aims for with his latest feature flick.
With the firm established now, it is time for us to hear how like Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoults Lex Luthor sounds like, including whether they have gone through their acquisitions of these iconic characters with accents that we might not have expected.
Update: Since this article went live, a 15-second teaser to SupermanNext Trailer contains a short clip of Hoult’s Luthor speech. All he says is “Super … man”, but hey, it’s something to tide us over until tomorrow!
2. Less Superman, More Clark Kent
Surprising no one, the first Superman Teaser Trailer largely consists of clips of Clark Kent performing superhero actions. We will all see the named hero who does well after all.
That said, some of the best Superman stories, literary or otherwise, have explored his civilian life as much as his heroic deeds. So I would like to see the film’s next recording round shows us more of Clark’s life outside his superhero utilization.
The first trailer suggested that Gunn want to lean into the everyday aspect of the character, including Clark’s day job as a prey reporter for the daily planetary and spend time at home with his adoptive human parents. It is, however, unclear how much of his civilian life will be examined in SupermanSo some new recordings of this wouldn’t go wrong in its next trailer.
3. Justice for Justice League International
Prior to the first trailer’s release, we had seen how some of Supes ‘colleagues’ heroes would look at this flick. In fact, leaked images of Edi Gathegis lost Terrific in June last year, followed by first-look snaps by Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl and Nathan Fillion’s Hal Jordan/Green Lantern a week or so.
SupermanHowever, Siugural Trailer was pretty bright about giving us a better look at these characters and another superpower in Anthony Carrigan’s metamorpho. In fact, except for a few flashes and you will miss that shot, they were largely absent from the said trailer.
With this quartet to play supporting roles – we are not sure how much they will look like, remember you – in SupermanWould it be nice if the film’s next trailer showed several of them in action and/or conversation with Man of Steel himself. I definitely expect that there is some melodrama between this company -led super team and SUPES, so give us a taste of what it looks like, thank you Gunn.
4. More crypto
Season 1 of Creature Commandos could have been the first DCU project that was released but Superman is placed as the project that officially throws DCU when it is released in July.
Gunn and Company feel the structure of the film’s release as ‘Superman Superman’. But even though the Krypton son is the film’s lead, no one denies that he will (and will probably continue to be) upstased by his violent dogs -joints crypto between now and the launch day.
We have known that crypto would appear in Superman Since leaked pictures of Mister TerriFic Tracking him down appeared in July 2024. Crypto has won everyone’s hearts since then, with Kent’s most loyal friend who stole the show in Superman’s first trailer and latest clips revealing a jaw-dropping look at the fortress of loneliness.
Obviously Krypto is one of Superman‘s most marketable assets, so it makes sense to put him ahead and center of any promotional material in front of the film’s release. Then I fully expect to see more of the unruly, over -chonable puppy when trailer # 2 falls online.
As I mentioned earlier, Superman Apparently will bell in at approx. 150 minutes when it flies into theaters in less than two months. Of course, its runtime can change between now and then as Gunn locks in the final cut, but let’s not worry about it right now.
If one of the best superhero movies (potentially, anyway) of 2025 is so long, its latest trailer is an important opportunity to show us lots of new, non-spoiler-filled recordings. It is then my hope that trailer # 2 does not contain any previous clips or sequences we have seen in its predecessor or other marketing material.
That said, I expect a shot or two to be recycled from the first trailer. It is a rarity for new teasers to consist of brand new recordings we haven’t seen before, but it would create a refreshing change if Superman‘s latest trailer did not re -develop footage from its ancestors. You have lots of recordings at your disposal, losing Gunn, so use it!
