Pakistani singer and actor Azaan Sami Khan has shared a video of his late grandfather, Squadron -Leader Arshad Sami Khan, who highlights the bravery of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officers during the war in 1965 with India.
The resurrected black-and-white footage, originally filmed during the conflict, contains Arshad Sami Khan and other PAF officers who provide interviews about their fighting experiences.
In the video, the officers describe how they lowered more Indian me -fighter jets, saying they “fell like little birds.” They claimed that between nine and ten enemy aircraft were destroyed during air releases and denied firm Indian reports to tone down any Pakistani aircraft.
The clip has since become viral over Pakistan, especially in the light of the country’s recent military exchange with India.
When tensions escalated after India’s Operation Sindoor, which included missile attacks in Pakistan, Islamabad responded by shooting six Indian aircraft and drones, including Rafale Jets.
The resurrection of the 1965 recordings has been interpreted by many on social media as a symbolic continuation of Pakistan’s military heritage, where users celebrate PAF’s air superiority in both the past and the present.
The video also got traction in the context of a controversy around Azaan’s father, Adnan Sami, a famous singer who was born in Britain to a Pakistani father and Indian mother.
Adnan Sami, who became an Indian citizen in 2016, recently came under fire to support India’s Operation Sindoor. He published slogans that praised the Indian Army, including the phrase “Sindoor See Tandoor Thanks,” which drew widespread criticism from Pakistans online.
