IHC reserves judgment on parole -acting for imran

Islamabad/ Rawalpindi:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) reserved on Wednesday his verdict on the objections raised by the registrar’s office to a petition seeking the release of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI)-Founder Imran Khan on parole in £ 190 million reference.

The case was heard by acting Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, who noted that the court would adopt an appropriate order on the registrar’s objection.

At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Dogar asked the petitioner’s lawyer, senior lawyer Sardar Latif Khosa, whether he wanted to refer the case to a division bench.

Khosa replied that the assistant registrar had raised an objection and denoted pleasing of non-persistent. “It is for this honorary court to decide whether the petition can be assumed for treatment,” he argued.

“There is a perception that justice is denied for a particular individual. This impression must end. Everyone deserves the respect of this court,” Khosa said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur also appeared in court with Khosa to support the petition.

However, the court noted that probation relief is an executive case. “This is the government’s job. Why did you bring that hit?” Dogar asked.

Khosa clarified that triallessness and probation were different legal issues. “We have already filed a parole application to the provincial government, but it remains pending. The appeal against conviction is before your court. If the government does not entertain our request, we will return here,” he said.
