Lahore:
In the midst of a festive national mood after Pakistan’s military success against India at the borders, senior PPP leader Qamar Zaman Caira without naming PTI said it was high time to bridge the political gap. He advised Khan’s party to fix and called on the government to adopt a forgiveness policy.
At the same press conference, PPP Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hasan Murtaza, who took a weld on Punjab Minister of Information Azma Bukhari to credit Nawaz Sharif with war planning, “at least one should be within some limits”. He said that repeated lies, if not publicly exposed, begin to sound like the truth.
Murtaza claimed that the real credit for making Pakistan’s defense invincible belonging to the PPP management. “If there is any party who had a role in strengthening Pakistan’s defense from signing Mou to JF-17 to build heavy industries, from weapons to tanks, flights to missiles, it ppp,” he said.
He credited both deceased Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and deceased Benazir Bhutto and claimed that Bhutto launched Pakistan’s nuclear program, a decision that ultimately cost him his life. “Anyone can blow up a bomb and take credit for it.”
Murtaza claimed that other parties could at best take credit just to continue the defense programs initiated by PPP governments. “Others should try to take on their performance by sending photos,” he added. He also took a jibe on Rana Sanaullah to “false claim that the war was past May 7”.
He said that if the prime minister claims credit for shutting down six aircraft, he would also have to take responsibility for the seventh – the “Adiala aircraft”, as he described as a creation of India’s Modi and Israeli Netanyahu.
Earlier, while commenting on the Indo-Pak conflict, Qamar Zaman Kaira, a member of PPP Central Executive Committee, said that despite India’s Jingoism, it would eventually come to the negotiating table.
He emphasized that lasting peace in the region is not possible without solving the Kashmir question. “India should implement his plebiscitic promise to the Kashmiri nation and the leadership,” he said, adding that PPP wants the case to be wound up through negotiations.
By tackling the media in PPP Central Punjab -vice General Secretary Usman Malik – along with Syed Hasan Murtaza, Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed and Chaudhry Aslam Yellow – Caira said PPP united a broken country.
He said: “Bhutto laid the basis for a strong defense system and a heavy chemical complex. JF-17 Thunder is being built in this HMC. Bibi Shaheed brought missile technology to Pakistan. Asif Zardari revived Pak-China friendship as president.”
He added that China is now supporting Pakistan both financially and defensively: “Work started by Bhutto Shaheed was completed by Asif Zardari, while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, as Foreign Minister, fought for Pakistan’s case as his grandfather and mother.”
The former federal minister said that despite being a great victim of terrorism, we will “work to end it.” He said, “This is not a credit war. Bhutto had created a broken country and a defeated nation. Instead of erasing anyone’s line, I had to follow my own line.”
Caira emphasized that in order to create a lasting sense of unity, “the country’s political parties referring to PTI should make introspection and seek forgiveness, and the government and the institutions should also adopt a forgiveness policy.”
