Colton Herta was involved in a scary crash under the Indianapoli 500, which qualified on Saturday.
He went into turns 1 and 2 at 236 mph when he lost control of his vehicle and spun around. No. The 26 -car hit its front end into the wall of the backstretch. As he drove back, Herta’s car went into the air and turned around.

The car continued down backstretch and into turns 3 and 4. It clung to the wall before it stopped.
Herta was able to get out of the car and walk away from the scary accident.
“I’m fine. Fortunately, today, these crashes look frightening than they feel,” Herta told Fox Sports after leaving Emergency Care Center. “Not to say that it felt good, but I think the team is getting hard to work right now and are trying to get the backup car ready. It is likely to be impossible to try to get it out today.

“Terrible day for this to happen … No real signs that led to it. We were super happy with the car this morning and went out. We couldn’t even get shot 1 done. So yes, it stinks but I’m good. We continue.”
From Saturday, Herta was a 16-1 shot to win the Indy 500.
Herta has nine wins in her Indycar Series career. He won the end of Nashville to end the 2024 season. He had three top-10 finishes this year and a top-5 finish.
He enters the Indy 500 ninth in the point level. He was the seventh last season on Indy.

Indy 500 will be released on May 25 on Fox with pre-coverage, which starts at 1 p.m. 10 et. It will also be available to stream live on Foxsports.com and the Fox Sports app.
