A bomb exploded near a reproductive health facility in Palm Springs, California, resulting in a person’s death, Mayor Ron Deharte told Reuters on Saturday.
ABC News, referring to law enforcement sources and the plant, said at least five people were injured in the explosion.
The Palm Springs City government said in a Facebook post that an explosion happened before 7 p.m. 11 PDT (1800 GMT).
“It has been identified as a bomb that was either in or near the car,” Deharte said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation in Los Angeles said in a social media post that it was investigating the explosion with bombing technicians that were deployed to the stage.
Palm Springs is approx. 161 km east of Los Angeles.
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been informed of the explosion, his office said.
The Associated Press reported that the US reproductive centers -FERTILITY CLINIC were damaged, but that staff were safe. AP attributed the information to Dr. Maher Abdallah.
