Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark began her 2025 WNBA season with a triple double in his team’s 93-58 Rout of the Chicago Sky on Saturday.

During the game, Clark was called for an obvious mistake after a tough mistake on her rival, Angel Reese.

Star Sky Center was angry with the bad of Clark and went after her in a heated exchange broken up by cloud and fever players. Clark went away and never looked at Reese once as Reese continued to go towards her.

While it seemed tense on the field, Clark and Reese said the bad wasn’t as bad as it looked after the game.

“Let’s not make it something it’s not,” Clark said after losing 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. “It was just a good game on basketball. I’m not sure what the referee saw to upgrade it, and it’s up to their discretion.

“It’s a roof to put them on the free throwing line. I’ve seen a lot of basketball in my life. That’s exactly what it was. I was trying not to do anything malicious. It’s not the type of player I am.”

Under the play, Reese got an offensive rebound, and Clark seemed to move against the referee that the Sky Center pushed a colleague player. Clark then stepped Reese on purpose and embraced her to prevent a light set -up.

The ESPN broadcast discussed if Clark pushed Reese a little with his left arm after committing the bad, which may have led to Reese’s angry reaction.

Without elaborating, Reese called it a “basketball game” from Clark, an expression that both players have used in the past.

Reese struggled to shoot in his season debut and scored 12 points on 5 of 14 from the field while grabbing a game-high 17 rebounds.

It was a short moment, but given the story between Clark and Reese, it is another chapter in a rivalry that goes back to their college days. Fever and sky are now rivals because of the story between Clark and Reese.

Last season, the fever took three of their four matchups, which included several tough violations that led to national debate.

Stephanie White, who got her first win as head coach of the fever, also commented on Clark’s mistake.

“No one will get anything easy against us,” White said. “We’ll be a tough defensive team. I thought it was a clear game on the ball too.”

“The wrongdoing on Clark met the criteria for overt violation 1, to win up, influence and follow -up to the expansion of the left hand to Reese’s back, which is not considered a legitimate basketball game and is therefore considered unnecessary contact,” said Head of Crew Roy Gulbeyan about Clark.

“After the error there is a physically spotted technical on Boston and a verbal technical on Reese that is offset.”

The sold -out audience at Gainbridge Fieldhouse cheered as Reese missed the first of her two free throw before Chicago retained the ball after the technical mistake.
