KP is missing out on 1M school registration target

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa education department is struggling to meet its registration goals for government schools, leading to an extension of the ongoing school admission campaign until May 31.

According to official sources, the department has come under the provincial target set by the Minister of Education, which aimed to enroll a million children during the campaign.

In response, the Director of Education has issued formal instructions to all male and female district education managers throughout the province and urged them to intensify the efforts to comply with the revised deadline.

Officials emphasize that the expansion is intended to maximize registration of students and bring as many children outside the school as possible into the formal education system.

It is remembered that chief secretary Shahab Ali Shah, in April, was chairman of a high level review meeting regarding the ongoing school registration campaign 2025.

A detailed presentation was given about the question of children outside the school and the strategies that were implemented to bring them into the education system. The meeting was informed that approx. 4.9 million children remain out of school throughout the province, while 9 million is currently enrolled in educational institutions.

Special Secretary Education informed the participants that District Education Managers (DEOs) are specifically targeted at clusters with high concentrations of non -rolled children.

The forum emphasized the importance of community participation was assigned the forum that an extensive door to door registration drive is underway involving school teachers and locals influence.

In addition, elected representatives of local bodies, youth volunteers, the oldest and religious leaders of the community are mobilized to support the grassroots campaign.
