Dawn Staley defends Clark-ReeSe rivaling after heated bad incident

The rivalry between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese has given several discussions over the sports world and beyond.

Tempers flared Between Reese and Clark after the feverish guard made an obvious mistake in the sky forward.

It was one of the bigger moments of Indiana’s 93-58 blowout victory on Saturday.

Both players neglected the incident. Clark told Espns Holly Rowe after the third quarter that there was “nothing malicious” behind the bad.

After the game, Reese described the bad as a “basketball game.”

“Refs got it right. Go ahead,” Reese told journalists.

“I think it’s great for our game,” Staley said. “It’s a sport. Treat us like a sport. … It happens in every sport – football, basketball, football … so let it be.”

Staley added that she thought the game’s officials made the right call.

“I want to take the lead of Angel and Caitlin, and that part is that they said it was a mistake. The officials got it right and we move on.” Said Staley.

“I think it pulls people in.”

“I think there are new fans who haven’t seen our game. I just hope they open their eyes to the rest of the talent there is. The product is incredible and it is in great demand. We played Caitlin in the national championship last year. … twenty million (viewers), whatever it peaked.”

Staley also expressed his enthusiasm for future Clark-Rese Matchups.

“I look forward to the next time they also play,” Staley said. “I will be glued in like everyone else. I’m a fan.”
