Pakistan has categorically rejected the “baseless, provocative and irresponsible” accusations of the Indian Prime Minister at a recent public address in Rajasthan and claimed that such statements were clearly aimed at sticking regional tensions for narrow political gains.
“The comments, filled with distortions, erroneous representations and inflammatory rhetoric, are clearly aimed at sticking regional tensions for narrow political gains. Such statements not only reflect a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, but also violate the norms of responsible state craft,” Foreign Office Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement Friday.
He said that resorting to threats and boasting military action against a sovereign nation was a serious breach of the United Nations Charter and established principles of international law, and that this dangerous approach also undermined regional peace and stability.
The spokesman said Pakistan remained a consistent and proactive partner in the global fight against terrorism, and any insinuation attempted to connect Pakistan with terrorist acts was actually incorrect and obviously misleading.
“It is a tactic often used to divert attention from India’s own internal challenges, as well as its oppressive politics in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Spokesman Khan repeated Pakistan’s regular commitment to peaceful coexistence, regional stability and constructive commitment.
“However, our desire for peace should not be misunderstood as weakness. The population of Pakistan and its armed forces is fully prepared and able to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
