Peshawar:
Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) held a protest in Peshawar against drone strikes in the tribal districts with the participation of government ministers, members of the assembly and party officers.
PTI made it clear that drone attacks in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa are unacceptable and warned that if they have not stopped, the party will take all the necessary steps to stop them.
The protest was organized on the instructions of PTI’s basic chairman, who had called for demonstrations in the tribal areas.
The protest in Peshawar’s Hashtnagri area was attended by PTIS Provincial President Junaid Akbar, former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Peshawar -President Atif Khan, Provincial Ministers Ihtesham Ali, Abdul Karim Tordher, Meena Khan Afridi, Arifhmedzai, Pir Maswar, District Irfan Saleem, Arbab, Arbab, Arbab, Arbab Sher Ali, Kamran Bangash, Fazal Elahi, Shandana Gulzar and other party officials.
Speakers at the protest condemned the drone strikes and said that innocent civilians are being targeted.
They described the attacks as a violation of human rights and a violation of national sovereignty and urged the federal government to take immediate attention.
They noted that the basic President of PTI has consistently opposed drone strikes and raised his vote against them on international forums. Due to PTI’s firm attitude, no drone strikes occurred during his power time.
The speakers added that the entire nation stands with the position of the basic chairman.
PTI was the first party to oppose drone strikes and even staged a sit-in to block NATO supply lines.
The foundation chairman was the only leader who had the courage to say “definitely not” to a superpower, speakers claimed.
“If these attacks have not stopped, we stop themselves,” the speakers warned. The provincial government has also issued a political statement that declares that drone strikes will not be accepted in the province.
They emphasized that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has has endured conflict for over 40 years, which has destroyed its economy. The province is highly dependent on trade in Afghanistan and is looking for good connections with his neighbor.
The leaders also promised to continue their fight against the 26th constitutional amendment and said that the nation would again take the streets to demand the release of PTI’s basic chairman.
They criticized Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and claimed he has only one mandate of 16 seats and question the legitimacy of his administration and claims that even the families of some government lawmakers do not recognize them as MNAs.
