PM Shehbaz arrives at Azerbaijan to Trilateral Summit

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived on Lachin, Azerbaijan on Tuesday, to join Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit.

He was received at Lachin Airport by Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Pakistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin and other diplomatic officials, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.

Pakistani delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and special assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir High -level talks Tuesday with Major General Mohammad Bagheri, head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, at the General Staff’s headquarters when he visited Tehran as part of Pakistan’s efforts to improve regional military cooperation and stabilize border security.

The discussions were centered on strengthening defense cooperation and refinement of existing border security mechanisms between the two neighboring countries. The visit marks a continued push from both sides to tackle mutual concerns related to cross -border militant conditions, smuggling and regional stability.

Earlier this month, in the midst of rising tensions between Pakistan and India, Azerbaijan expressed support to Pakistan and Solidarity with his government and people.

The Azerbaijanian Government condemned acts of the Indian military in a formal letter to Pakistan’s prime minister.

The message provided by Azerbaijan’s ambassador Khazar Farhadov included compassion for those affected by the conflict and desires for the wounded recovery. Azerbaijan also called on both sides to seek a peaceful decision on diplomatic means.

During the summit, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to join Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev for high -level conversations aimed at strengthening trilateral cooperation.

The Prime Minister also holds a bilateral meeting with President Aliyev during his visit.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is on a six-day diplomatic tour in four countries as Pakistan tries to strengthen regional partnerships after recent tensions with India.

The Foreign Office previously said the prime minister holds far -reaching conversations with the management of all four countries. He also conveys Pakistan’s appreciation of their support during recent escalation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Tehran on Monday, holding conversations with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the historic Sa’dabad Palace. He also met the supreme leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.

After their conversations, Prime Minister and President Pezeshkian approached a joint media outlook. During the briefing, Shehbaz Iran thanked for his support during the recent tensions between Pakistan and India.

He repeated Pakistan’s support of Iran’s right to pursue a peaceful nuclear program and said, “We stand with our Iranian brothers and fully support Iran’s right to a civilian nuclear program.”

The Prime Minister has completed a visit to Turkiye and Iran and will end his regional tour in Tadsjikistan, where he is scheduled to attend the international conference on glaciers on May 29 – 30.
