The University of Texas at Austin’s athletic department has long been reported for its access to seemingly unmatched financial resources.
Texas Longhorn’s football program undoubtedly maintains some of the best – if not the top – facilities in the nation.
Since the emergence of name, image and equality (zero), there has been a noticeable uptick in the amount of financial resources programs all over the United States that are set aside for football, basketball and other sports.
Ohio State reportedly built one of the country’s most expensive guards on the way to January’s national championship.
Some have claimed that Texas’ consumption on the way into the 2025 campaign was on par with or even surpassed the $ 20 million used by Buckeyes.

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian denied the $ 40 million -dollar price tag associated with Longhorns.
Sarkisian referred to a recent Column to Houston Chronicle, which highlighted Texas’ program list. The column accounted for revenue sharing and Texas Nil Collective payouts. According to the outlets, the turnover division funds amounted to $ 20.5 million. It was reported that the total spent on the football team was between $ 35-40 million dollars.

Sarkisian suggested that $ 25 million be a more accurate figure for Texas’ investment. He also suggested that the number of $ 40 million was a result of “irresponsible reporting.”
“There was an anonymous source that said that was what our list was. I wish I had $ 40 million on our list. We would probably be a slightly better team than we are,” the coach said during a recent performance at Siriusxm’s College Sports Radio.
Sarkisian then approached the current landscape of college football.
“The idea of believing that many other schools are not spending money to get players? It’s the state college -football right now. That’s what it is,” he said.

Texas has moved on to college -football -endgamn for the past two seasons. Longhorns lost 37-31 to Washington in the playoff semi-finals 2023–24.

After defeating Clemson in the first round last season, Texas survived a double-over-over thriller against Arizona State in the quarterfinals. But Longhorns couldn’t get past Ohio State in the semi -finals.
“It’s been a good race. I wish I had about another $ 15 million or so. We might have a better list,” Sarkisian said.
