Atlanta Braves Starter Chris Sale reached 2,500 strikes, faster than any pitcher in the MLB story, under the team’s 9-3 win over Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night at Citizen Bank Park.
Sale, 36, knocked out Phillies’ third Baseman Edmundo Sosa with his signature development shooter to finish the sixth lap.
The sale surpassed the 2,500-strike brand in 2,026 laps and broke the record on 2,107 ⅔ laps set by Randy Johnson.
The sale set six shutout gangs, gave only two hits and three walks and beat eight blows in the victory.

The sale was the 40th jug in the Major League story to reach 2,500 strikes and join Clayton Kershaw, Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer as the only active throwers who have reached the plateau.
The eight-time All-Star won his first career Cy Young with Braves last season while leading the National League with 225 strikes.

The sale spent the first seven seasons in his career with Chicago White Sox and was traded for Boston Red Sox. The sale was an integral part of the Red Sox team in 2018 that won the World Series.
The sale spent six seasons with Red Sox before dealing with him to be brought before the beginning of the 2024 season.
