Buckingham Palace shares Queen Camilla’s message to mark Big Day

Buckingham Palace has released Queen Camilla’s message to mark the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo in Dunkirk.

The palace shared the message on social media handles with caption, “A message from the Queen that marked the 85th anniversary of Operation Dynamo in Dunkirk, in honor of the civil contribution to the war effort.”

The Queen’s message sounds, “Today and together with the nation, the king and I would like to remember the heroic and unprecedented civil war effort in Operation Dynamo at 85 -year anniversary.

“Over nine days, an eclectic collection of seafarers, ferry -masters, barges, barns, fishermen and children with their small ships achieved the great evacuation of more than 338,000 troops struggling with his back to the sea in Dunkirk.”

Queen Camilla also said, “My father, who was among their number and safely transported home 85 years ago today, remembered to wade out to a cement ship to find refuge and rest in his wheel house.”

“He noted in his memories that” the ship was commanded by a midshipman who saw about twelve, assisted by a boat sweat aged eighty, “Camilla continued.

“I know that my father, along with his friends of the British expedition force and the Allied armies, lucky enough to find a safe passage would today be grateful beyond words for this lifeline,” she concluded.
