Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed met Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Saturday and thanked Russia for his “positive neutrality” under the recent tensions between India and Pakistan.

The 40-minute meeting, held before the start of the high level forum, was part of a broader interaction with five prominent Asian leaders from China, Turkiye, South Korea and Cambodia.

Senator Mushahid was the only guest from Pakistan, specially invited by the Russian Foreign Ministry and the reigning United Russia Party, which delivered a main address on the forum.

Lavrov confirmed Russia’s foreign policy attitude to promote regional peace, security and stability.

Senator Mushahid appreciated Russia’s approach, especially its balanced reaction during Indo-Pak tension, and praised President Putin’s Eurasian security initiative and described it as anchored in principle of “indivisible security” concept also repeated itself in China’s global security initiative.

In a speech with Russian media, Senator Mushahid praised the heat of Russian-Pakistani ties and repeated Islamabad’s support for a multipolar regional order.

“Russia and China, led by President Putin and President Xi Jinping, are building a peaceful and prosperous Eurasia – and Pakistan is ready to be an equal partner on this journey,” he said.

At the Eurasian Forum, participated in over 100 delegates from 25 countries, Foreign Minister Lavrov provided a severely affected policy that was critical of Western alliances in Asia.

He dealt with direct concern about India’s participation in US-led groups.

Lavrov condemned the Indo-Pacific strategy and said, “This Indo-Pacific had never existed-Nato constituted this expression of pulling India into their anti-China schemes.” His remarks were seen as a reprimand of India’s growing role in the Quad Alliance, which includes the United States, Japan and Australia.

Lavrov added that although Indian officials claimed their role in Quad was purely financial, joint military exercises among four -wheeled nations told another story.

“In practice, however, is already strolling on quad nations – with a remarkable persistence – to organize common naval exercises,” he said. The comment drew an unpleasant silence from the 12-member Indian delegation, including three BJP parliamentarians, present on the forum.

Lavrov accused NATO of trying to return to Afghanistan, warning, “Four years after their eerie retreat, NATO is again seeking new entry into Afghanistan.”

During his media interactions, Senator Mushahid expressed full support for Eurasian cooperation and condemned military blocks such as Quad and the so -called ‘Asian NATO’ as destabilizing ventures. He emphasized Pakistan’s obligation to diplomacy, the UN-Charter and regional trust building.

The forum ended with a strong call from Asian and Eurasian representatives to move away from military inclusion and against inclusive, rules -based regional cooperation.
