- Details of two HMD -Smartwatches have appeared
- Both wearables are said to run wear us
- One of the models comes with a 2MP camera attached
It seems that we will soon get a few new challenges for our best smartwatches list. HMD (perhaps best known for releasing Nokia-branded phones in recent years) was joined to work on two smartwatches, both running wear and tear on us and with a camera mounted on one of them.
This comes from Tipster @smashx_60 (via notebookcheck) and although we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the requirement, Smartwatches would be a sensible next step for HMD – which already manufactures phones, tablets, earplugs and HMD offgrid.
According to the leak, the first smartwatch will be HMD rubber 1 with a 1.85 inch OLED screen, a 400 mAh battery and heartbeat and spo2 tracking. Apparently, there is also a 2-megapixel camera on board this model.
Then there is HMD rubber 1’s, which comes with a smaller 1.07-inch OLED screen, a smaller 290 mAh battery and no camera-beautiful heartbeat and the spo2 tracking features are still included. Sounds like this will be the cheaper choice.
For adults or children?
HMD rubber 1- OLED 1.85 “Display- 5atm Waterproof- BT5.3, WiFi, NFC, Accelerometer, Heartheat, SPO2- 2MP CAM-SLID OS- 400MAH, USB-C, QIHMD RUBBER 1ST OLED 1 USB-C, QI29 May 2025
The camera on HMD rubber 1 is interesting as this would be something we haven’t seen on a wear of us before. While it is not clear how the camera would be integrated, it will probably allow photos and videos to be recorded from your wrist, with or without a phone connected.
There are some speculation in the NotebookCheck article that these smartwatches may be intended for children to use, rather than adults – something like Samsung Galaxy Watch for children who may have been launched at the beginning of the year.
The leak also mentions that these smartwatches come with 5 ATM waterproofing, which is good for depths up to 50 meters. It suggests that they will have a relatively robust cabinet around the internal components.
We will have to wait and see what HMD might have in store, but there has yet been nothing official from the company. In the meantime, we are patiently waiting for the arrival of Wear OS 6, which is expected to be pushed out in the next month or two.
