According to official data available with The newsThe pace of utilization of development funds was only 54% in the first 11 months, but with only one month left it has not yet been seen how much funding will be used in the outgoing financial year ending on June 30, 2025.
Now the government is ready to allocate RS1 trillion to the public sector development program (PSDP) in the next budget for 2025-26. The annual plan Coordination Committee (APCC) is ready to consider the next PSDP Monday (today). Development costs for RS1.4 trillion had been awarded PSDP along with the public private partnership, but it was revised downward twice to RS1.25 trillion and then reduced to RS1,096 trillion.
In the first 11 months (July to May) 2025-26 period, the government sanctioned RS0.64 trillion, of which the Rupee component’s expenses for the development budget amounted to RS0.47 trillion in the first 11 months. The foreign component was planned for RS226 billion throughout the financial year, from which the exploitation amounted to RS0,123 trillion in the first 11 months of CFY.
The sources said the release of funds remained slow in the first half of CFY, due to the development schemes could not gain momentum.
The government will now award PSDP financing of RS1 trillion against ministers’ demand for RS3 trillion. The Ministry of Planning argued to increase PSDP up to RS1.6 trillion to end certain ongoing schemes, but eventually the award was proposed to RS1 trillion.
Originally, the Ministry of Finance had provided an indicative budget ceiling on RS0,921 trillion, but later it was increased up to RS1 trillion for the next budget.
