- Watchos 12 will be announced on June 9
- However, it may have a new name in line with reports, Apple changes the numbers on its OS — Release
- Below are three features that I think we see this year
Apple’s WWDC 2025 event comes within a few days, and although this conference is usually focused on developers, I expect great things from iOS, macos, iPados and, yes, the Watchos operating system used to operate Apple Watches.
While we will have to wait in September for new models to be added to our best Apple Watches list – Apple almost never debuts this kind of hardware on WWDC – we are likely to see a number of new software features.
While Watchos is almost never Apple’s main focus for its developer -focused events, it still gets part of the time dedicated to it every year. Below are three features that I expect to see advertised to the future Apple Watch platform.
Before we start:
It is worth noting, while most people expect this year’s release to be called Watchos 12, there is every chance that Apple will mix things up.
In recent weeks, Bloomberg has suggested that our devices run iOS 26, iPados 26 and so on, with future release that complies with this new name Convention.
Will we use Watchos 26 from September when it is released to the public? We’ll find out soon.
1. Apple Intelligence on Apple Watch
Answer to last year’s Apple Intelligence Big Reveal was somewhat warm, and some reports have painted a picture of a company that is struggling to gain a foothold in the AI age.
This makes June 9 show very important to show that Apple can run with the severely AI-focused tech giants like Google and Openai. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested that it is possible – at least in branding – for Apple Intelligence to arrive at Watchos in a limited capacity.
The Bloomberg report, which is linked above, suggested Apple “Branding of a new set [of] Features like ‘Powered by Apple Intelligence’ (although the device does not actually run the AI models directly). “
The latter point is key because it may mean that your current Apple Watch is able to run some of these “Apple Intelligence” features without having to blow up on a future model.
There is reportedly a trifecta of planned features; Genmoji creation of a user’s wrist, messages of messages scheduled for widgets on your Apple Watch, while Siri could see an Apple Intelligence style update. However, this reworking of Siri will not be to the extent that Apple promised the iPhone last year.
2. A redesigned, solarium inspired user interface

It wasn’t that long ago that Apple shook up the watchos with its Watcho’s 10 -update, offering widget stacks reminiscent of the best Garmin Watches’ user interface. Now, rumors say we could get a wider visual audit that includes almost any platform, including Watchos, iOS and even macOS.
Several reports have suggested that Apple will use a new design language, which is internally called ‘solarium’, with a much lighter design, possibly with increased window transparency.
It’s been tipped for iOS, iPados, Macos, Tvos and Watchos. We are curious to see how the latter works, especially as Watchos has always been put on a black background. Color us fascinated.
3. An exercise highlighting

Apple loves to show an exercise in the coming us where it can, and releases a lot of new features to excite fans. We’ve seen a big focus on driving in Watchos 9 and cycling to Watchos 10 in the past, but where could Apple go next time?
We would very much like to see a way to track control of management within Apple’s own ecosystem: GymGuere shouts about more ways to get the most out of their Apple Watches. However, our money is on something that is set outdoors.
Rumors have suggested a Apple Watch Ultra 3 Is incoming this year, so we would be very surprised if Apple is not pushing the robust durability, GPS capabilities and longer-lasting battery in the Apple Watch Ultra series in some respects.
A marathon? A triathlon? What about Rucking – the trendy exercise that consists of walking with a weighted backpack? We will find out on June 9th.
