One of the players involved in the lawsuit responded to Kande’s race to the championship in an exclusive statement to Pakinomist Digital, provided by her lawyers at Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).
“It is disturbing to see a male athlete dominate our sport and take opportunities away from girls who have worked hard all season to reach it to the championship of the state tournament. On top of the unfairness, it is often a risk to play a physical sport as a softball against a male athlete,” the statement states.
“I’m proud of the girls who played hard, and at the end of the day it deserves more than a boy, but I hope more people will continue to stand up for female sports and take the rights of women and girls seriously.”
The anonymous player’s team did not reach the championship, ADF said.
ADF lawyer Suzanne Beecher also weighed the situation.
“A man’s belief in his gender does not delete the physical benefits over female athletes. And every girl who competes deserves the chance to experience the excitement of victory,” Beecher told Pakinomist Digital.
“What happened tonight was not only unfair, but put every female athlete in danger of being wounded because of the clear differences in man -to -woman. We filed a lawsuit against Minnesota officials to increase their radical policies that harm female athletes throughout the state and restore their opportunities in a fair and secure competition.”
Rothenberger beat both the quarterfinals and the semi -finals on Wednesday and even hit two doubles in the semi -finals to help trigger a comeback.
Champlin Park is now facing No. 4-seeded Bloomington Jefferson in the title game Friday at the University of Minnesota’s Jane Sage Cowles Stadium.
