Islamabad:
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued two separate messages on Thursday, reducing the power tariff by RS2.99 per Unit for consumers in Karachi, while increasing the rate of RS0.93 per year. Unit for the rest of the country.
The changes in the tariff had been carried out due to fuel adjustment for March in the event of Karachi and for April for other parts of the country. In any case, the new changes in the current month’s electricity bills are reflected.
According to a notification relating to the K-electric tariff, the authority decided to allow a negative FCA on RS2.9898/kWh (negative RS4,045 billion) in March 2025 to be transferred to consumers during the month of invoicing in June 2025 “.
Nepra said the negative FCA would apply to “all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic protected consumers, charging stations for electric vehicles (EVCs) and prepaid electricity consumers in all categories that chose pre -paid duties”.
It said KE would reflect the adjustment of fuel taxes compared to march in the month of billing in June. “The adjustment is shown separately in consumers’ bills on the basis of units invoiced to consumers in the respective month to which the adjustment relates,” added it.
According to a separate notification, the authority has “reviewed and assessed a national average uniform increase of RS0.9306/kWh in the current customs duty for discos [Distribution Companies] Due to variations in fuel taxes for April ”.
The announcement added that FCA should apply to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, protected consumers, EVCs and prepaid electricity consumers in all categories that chose prepaid duty rates.
